REPRESENTATIVE PROJECT PROFILE

Ferry Landing Structural Steel

A practical bridges & transportation infrastructure coating plan for Gulf Coast operating conditions, built around surface preparation, application control and documented quality checkpoints.

Typical project objective

Ferry Landing Structural Steel work commonly begins with weathered or mechanically damaged coatings, localized corrosion and difficult geometry that cannot be solved by applying another finish coat. The project plan starts with the asset’s service environment, remaining coating condition, access limitations and owner specification.

Scope and surface preparation

The initial scope separates intact coating from failed areas, identifies oil, grease or salt contamination, and establishes the required cleanliness and anchor profile. Depending on the substrate and specification, preparation may combine industrial cleaning, pressure washing, power-tool cleaning and abrasive blasting. Adjacent equipment and operations are protected through project-specific containment and work-zone controls.

Protective coating approach

The coating system is selected for the verified substrate, exposure, operating temperature, chemical environment and desired service life. A typical system may use a compatible primer, intermediate build coat and durable topcoat. Product data sheets govern mixing, induction, thinning, pot life, environmental limits, target film build and recoat windows.

Quality-control checkpoints

  • Pre-work photographs and defined repair boundaries
  • Ambient temperature, humidity, dew point and substrate-temperature readings
  • Surface cleanliness and profile verification
  • Stripe coating of welds, edges, bolts and difficult geometry
  • Wet- and dry-film-thickness monitoring
  • Final visual review, touch-up and closeout documentation

Shop or field execution

Transportable components can be evaluated for processing in the Harvey facility’s 80 × 20-foot enclosed paint booth. Installed assets can be completed through field mobilization, while larger programs may combine shop and field work.

Gulf Coast service coverage

Project support is available across Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida’s Gulf Coast.
